View Full Version : Group Discs

I noticed the 'Group Discs' feature doesn't seem to work on my version
of slimserver. I probably wouldn't care much if I had just the
occasional double or triple CD, but I've got probably close to 100
sets and a few top 10 discs.

I see this issue was discussed back in October. I've been so impressed
with slimserver's handling of collection data I'm surprised this is
still not resolved. I'd think this would be a relatively easy problem
compared to things like various artists compilations (which slim
server handles beautifully IMO).

Any ETA on fixing 'Group Discs'? As I build my FLAC collection, should
I be anticipating an album tag, disc # tag, and/or filename solution?
I'd hate to have to go back and redo tags.

earch the bug base for "Multi-Disc". Though a continual "problem", this has
yet to be addressed in the code or documentation...

Whilst waiting for bug 288 to be resolved (Various Artists working
correctly), I thought I would start sorting out my multi-disc albums, but
that either isn't working or I am using it incorrectly.

If I have an album - say - Prince's Crystal Ball, and I have artist Prince
album Crystal Ball (Disc 1 of 3) and Crystal Ball (Disc 2 of 3) etc. it
doesn't pick it up as a multi-disc album even though I have set it up this
way in Server Settings.

Any ideas ? I accept - I may be missing the point of this.. But what is the
point ?

It was never intended to parse album title tags. It was based on teh DISKNUMBER
tag in FLAC files or the DISCC tags. As such, this is a feature enhancement
that isn't worth tackling in the 5.4.x level of the server. However, as 6.0
progressed, look for feature such as this to enter the database.
