View Full Version : Loading Genre list from Live365 hangs

I've experiencing a problem using the Live365 plug-in. I try to browse the
genres; SB or SS displays "Loading genre list from Live365..." and
Slimserver appears to hang. At least on SB it looses the connection. On SS
it just blocks for about 5 minutes and then seems to resume operation. In
any case, it never appears to get the list it expects as if you try to
browse again, you get the same problem.

Anyone can tell me whether this feature works for them or is this a "common
problem"`?

Thanks,

John

The genre list hangs on mine for 15-30 seconds the first time
accessed, then works normally after downloading it.

What's your platform, CPU speed, net connection, etc?
The fallback XML parser is particularly slow if you're using a platform
that doesn't have the XML::Parser library compiled. It's usually not
much of an issue with genres, but could be an issue.

In my opinion, it's better to search for stations on the Live365 website
and add them to your presets. As cool as the squeezebox is, it's not
that much of a web browser.
