View Full Version : Can get IP, Can't find Server, Can't ping

I'm now going slowly mad!

I have two Squeezeboxes, both successfully upgraded to 5.4.0 firmware and
immediately decided they couldn't find Slimserver.

Both can get an IP address using DHCP. Both can't find the server (entering
the address manually doesn't help). Pinging the Squeezeboxes (either from the
Slimserver or another box on the network) give a "request timed out" message
and (not sure if it should) nothing appears on the Squeezebox displays.

Suggestions on what to try next would be welcomed! Thanks.

Nick

It looks as if the upgrade caused the server to "lose" the two boxes (not
surprising really). In the end, I had to temporarily connect the server and
the two boxes together via a hub. The boxes were then discovered and all was
back to normal. I then put the cabling back into the switch rather than the
hub and everything still works.

In other words, there seems to be a problem with discovery through the switch,
although everything else works fine.

It's a Cisco 12 port switch -- anybody with any clues on how to configure it
so I don't need to re-cable everytime the SlimServer software is upgraded?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

I had a similar problem and found that my Squeezebox was connecting to
my neighbor's wireless LAN. Does the Squeezebox show up in your
routers "connected devices" (or whatever the manufacturer calls it)
list?
