View Full Version : I want to try 7.8 or 7.9. Can I downgrade back to 7.3.3 if it doesn't work well?

I'm still running 7.3.3 with a Duet on WHS2011 because it's been blissfully stable (after so many network stability issues in earlier releases). With mainstream support for WHS2011 expiring next year, I'm testing a new box with Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. 7.3.3 runs just fine on this as well.

But...I'm tempted at this point to try 7.8 or 7.9 when I build the final production instance of 2012 R2.

Question: If I don't like the new version, and I uninstall it and install 7.3.3 instead, will the firmware of my Duet player/controller downgrade back to 7.3.3 as well? If so, it would give me confidence to try 7.8 knowing I have 7.3.3 as the fall back on (it's the devil I know )

Setup: Squeezebox Duet running with LMS 7.3.3 on WHS2011.

If one rolls back to an older version of LMS, the firmware of the SB player will roll back as well to match.

Update: I've been running 7.9.0-1436347011 for over a week now on my new server with no problems, and the family has given the new UI a big thumbs up (it's very nice how you have more home menu customization options). There's no going back to 7.3.3.

Very nice work, Michael!

One question though, in 7.3.3, on the Duet controller, pressing the pause button, or long pressing it would give you a brief pop-up window saying "Paused..." or "Stopped..." respectively. While you can see the icon for play/pause/stop in the lower left corner of the controller display, it's kinda tiny and the pop-up was much easier to see/confirm what you just did. Is there a setting to get these pop-ups back?

No biggie if not. Glad I took the leap to 7.9.
