Okay, by now readers of this list should be able to install AlienBBC on
OS X. If you wish to play wxpn (www.wxpn.org), you need to edit the
xpn.asx file that you download from their site:
wget http://love.str3am.com/asx/xpn.asx
Get rid of the first <Entry> which is basically a request for money
(but do support xpn!)
Where to put the xpn.asx file? You will need to point to it in a
playlist. My hack (which might be ugly):
Turn on personal web sharing. Now your ~userid/Sites folder is "live"
Put xpn.asx in there.
They create a playlists file (where ever you specified playlists for
slimserver) such as wxpn.pls and put the following in it:
[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://localhost:5123/RealAudio/http://localhost/~userid/xpn.asx
where userid is your userid where you used the Sites folder
Boom. On your Browse Playlists you should now see wxpn and be able to
play things. Works for me.
I still can't get slimserver to find AlienBBC if I start it from the
prefpane. My clue is that it says Alien in the plugins list when I
start it that way (as opposed to the working ./slimserver.pl
--d_plugins)
