Hi there

Haven't been here for a while, everything with my system has been running smoothly, until...
Switching for playing to my library content to a radio stream meets with silence, although receiver light and Ethernet shows incoming data. Does this on both my Receivers whether synced or on there own.
Have tried so many resets. Running LMS 7.8.1 on Windows PC

Any suggestions very much appreciated.

Cheers

Try switching players to MySB.com. Sure LMS is able to see the internet (MySB.com)?
LMS > Control Panel > Diagnostics, what is reported for ALL pings, ports, IP's?

...I should add that that once the receivers have hung, they don't respond to pressing play or pause, white light shows constantly.
The controller and web control don't show any progress of music or stream.
Pulling the power from Receiver and reconnecting will allow me to go back to my music library.

Hi toby10
Where is the Diagnostic tab you are referring to?
In first window when you open up in Web Browser, or once you click through to settings?
Cheers

CONTROL not web, found it!
All ports and squeezebox.com report OK.
Synced with MySB and still the same result...

Just tried resetting the Receivers by pressing and holding front button until flashes red fast, and now is doing the same as the radio when playing from Library.
Thinking of re-installing 7.9 as running out of ways to isolate what is going on.

How do I clear all databases/setting to begin again with 7.8.1?
Any other solutions worth trying?

Have you looked at the server log to see if any errors reported ?

You could turn on logging player.source to DEBUG to see if the problem is server or player related.

Don't do any testing with players synced - it only adds another layer of possible problems making it hard to find root cause.

OK, I set to debug and restarted server.
This is in the Log, no idea what it means...

Are you using proxied streaming ( player setting in LMS )

Are you using bittrate limiting ( also a player setting in LMS )

And finaly do you actually have lame installed ? you need that for any mp3 transcoding .

To get radio stream out of this play/pause loop with no sound I then navigated to library audio and selected.
It too would be stuck trying to play the track until I pull the power on receiver, and it goes through the Red/Green/White light cycle and then plays the audio ok.

I'll look into that Mnyb

The useful messages in the log are those messages between selecting a station to play and about 20 secs afterwards so you should note the time you start to play a stream, then wait about 20 secs and clear the playlist from the player. Then look at the log file and copy all log message between the noted start and end times into a text file and then zip the file and attach to a post.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
I have run LMS on a NAS and 2 PCs over the years and never installed LAME before, and they have streamed these very stations in log. The stream is 128 MP3 already, don't see why it needs transcoding....
I installed LAME, went for the 32 bit version as LMS is installed with the 32bit programs, even though it is 64 OS, would this be correct? Says appears to be correctly installed.
Ran both Proxied and Direct, no difference.

Log attached.

Cheers

Log attached.

The log does not show any messages about trying to play a stream. It looks like you didn't enable logging player.source. The log will show if transcoding is taking place and also why LMS thinks it is necessary. If log shows stream is playing direct then your freeze problem may be due to network issue so either way a proper log will help identify source of problem.

The log you did add shows a database issue. I suggest rebuild library using WebUI Settings/Basic Settings/Rescan Media Library / clear library and rescan everything.

If after rebuilding library there are still errors in the log then you have another problem that needs to be resolved - I think it is unrelated to player issue but it is complicating the player issue.

Ok, after a few days of testing all is stable again.

I decided to clear not only the library, but use the two clear all preferences and databases options in the Control Panel too.
Didn't take long to rescan, as LMS is on i7 CPU PC. Worked perfectly again at first play.
Slowly added my plugins, and tested each time.
Now back to wireless, after hooking up Ethernet connection trying to isolate problem, a running as it should playing my favourite streams.

Thanks to everyone for your time and tips.

Cheers
