It's not supported at the moment as far as I know.

If you had a really high grade router or firewall you MAY be able to use some clever DNAT/SNAT rules to let LMS think it's connecting on 80 when it is I fact 443 but it is very esoteric and if a user / pass is required to connect to the https then forget it.

What you describe is little more than port mapping. Where exactly would the SSL decryption of the encrypted stream take place?

For players which support https (probably SqueezeLite, probably smartphone players like iPeng, SqueezePad and SqueezePlayer) this might actually work.

I doubt it does so for Squeezeboxes, especially the ip3k ones.

I only have Squeeze Player & that's the same as the Touch/Radio. The stream source is correctly identified, the index is displayed & on selection, even the description is correct. But the duration is reported as 1s & hitting play reports "empty".

Ah. Then it looks like the server itself would need to read the stream, too.
Or the player uses the port to identify the stream as https.

Pretty sure this could be done using stunnel (https://www.stunnel.org/) in client mode (i.e. LMS connects to stunnel without ssl, stunnel connects to audio stream with ssl)

Can you give an example url? or the name of the provider?

@JJZolx - you are of course correct. I wasn't thinking properly.
