Hi,

What is is the current "best" (or, perhaps, "most popular" would be a better question) player to use with LMS in a Windows environment? SqueezePlay? Other options?

Thanks,
Joe

squeezelite is I think the gold standard at the moment for a headless windows player. In LMS > settings > plugins, install the "local player" plugin and this will install squeezelite to your windows machine.

Thank you, that is helpful but sounds like it can only be done on the machine on which LMS is installed. Are there options for other Windows machines on the same network?

squeezelite can be installed on other windows machines. doesn't have to be on the same machine with LMS. There are other ways to install (rather than the local player plugin for lms). Search this forum for instructions, as I'm not sure what they are (but I am sure it is possible and common to do)

Wow. Unless you really want a headless player, I would just install SqueezePlay. Then you have a Touch-like user interface as well.

and squeezeplay can also control any other squeezebox in your system. I control my SB system almost entirely from the Squeezeplay running on my laptop.

Hi Ronnie, all;
from the picture above, it looks like you have Squeezeplay running, but the "Remote-Part" only - without the "Player-Part" of Squeezeplay.
(For that you use Squeezelite - hence "best of both worlds").
Is this right? If so: How did you manage to uninstall the "Player-Part" of Squeezeplay?

I would be very interested to do the same thing, as I use Squeezeplay on my Tablet / PC exactly the same way: Remote only and it bothers me a bit that it always launches an unneeded Player at the same time.

Greetings, Heiner

Squeezeplay on Windows IS the default player. You can't uninstall it by definition.

Why is this a problem - just select another player, then it's a remote.

Jivelite is just the control part of Squeezeplay without the player part but it is has only been ported to Linux and OSX.

That Screen Capture was taken some time ago and I can't actually remember when I did it, but i think the "Joggler" may well be the Squeezeplay renamed, or maybe I never selected Squeezeplay on that machine as a 'Player'.

Like Castella says, don't bother about it, watch laVuelta instead:cool:
