I believe the answer is - kind-of.
There are appleScript/perl scripts (which have been posted in the list)
that will 'watch' iTunes and feed the currently playing track from
iTunes to SlimServer.
(search the archive for message subject "Control SlimServer _from_
iTunes").
But you're sending the track not the audio itself so they won't be
synchronised especially if you were to rewind or fast-forward the music.

I don't believe iTunes will stream unencrypted audio to other apps so
there's no scope for using it as an input source to SlimServer,
as has recently been discussed for soundcard line-ins etc.

In this case you might have been better off with an airport express? ;-)

Subject: [slim] Squeezebox and Itunes

I hope this question hasn't been answered a million times....I looked
extensively in the help files and couldn't get an answer.

I have a Squeezebox and I-Tunes.

I would like to be able to select songs on my laptop through itunes and
have the Squeezebox play it though my stereo in realtime (ie not saving
to a playlist and them having SB play the list).

I have setup the server to use my Itunes library, that works fine. Is
there a way to just double click on a song in itunes and hav he SB play
it? Effectively, the SB would be like my sound card in the PC.

Thanks

Rick

The iTunes interface is nice and the speed of search is wonderful
(type a few letters of the track/artist/album) and watch the list
shrink. However, other it's not very good at stacking up a the next
few songs. If you start a playlist you can add things to it, or use
"party shuffle" but even then it's 'drag to party shuffle', click on
party shuffle, reorder tracklist.

Have you had a good play with the Slim web interface (and tried a few
different skins - i generally use Fishbone). The 'add this song to
the playlist', 'add this song to play next' and 'add this whole album'
are nice tools for keeping music going while you work. The most
annoying thing at the moment is the speed of search but that should
get better when the database is rewritten.

Someone *is* writing a plugin to pick up iTunes Party Shuffle playlist
(there was a mail yesterday about it) that will be close to what
you're asking for.
