tthinking of getting one to use with iPeng in player mode
it does have an Optical out but thats not clear from description

If you plan on using iPeng's playback function then you maybe better off with an iPhone / iPod / iPad docking station?
That device you mention is a streamer (and uses DLNA).

It has Airplay, so yeah, might be worth the 40 quid!

How well does ipengs playback work with airplay, its going to be quite network intensive streaming to iPeng and then from iPeng via airplay I'd have thought.

iPeng Playback works fine with AirPlay, you can even sync it with other Squeezeboxes and the synchronization will be pretty good, at least if the AirPlay device doesn't add a latency of it's own.

I have looked for devices that add airplay to an existing hifi and this is one of just a few.
there are a couple of similar things made by hifi manufacturers eg onkyo ds something at 5 times the price, apple tv or airport, or a raspberry pi with usb dac or add on card but thats about it
this is much cheaper than even the Pi
