Hi there, my good ol' Squeezebox (its carter says "M/N C-RH62) seems to hav trouble delivering sound to my right speaker - be it with the RCA a or the jack sockets (actually it does, but it's very faint).

Any idea on if there's a way to simply (I'm no electronics specialist, can barely solder) give it a new life ?

Alternatively, I have an old jailbroken iPhone (iOS 4.1) that could be used as a replacement for my Squeezebox. I found an app (Squeezecast) that could do the job, but alas it doesn't work with my iOS version.

will iPeng app work on iOS 4.1? If so, it will also turn the iphone into a SB player.

iPeng Classic (the old iPeng version) will work under iOS 4.2.1 but you need to download/purchase it directly on the device since you'd need not the latest but the second latest version (2.0.16).
The App Store App on the device will allow you to download and purchase it but if you did the purchase it in iTunes you'd get version 2.0.17 which requires iOS 5.

You'll also need the additional "playback" In-App-Purchase to use iPeng as a player.

Synchronization with other Squeezeboxes might not be perfect on the old device, too. It sometimes works but the timing on ARM6 devices isn't good enough for the active synchronization

People with Squeezebox 3 have reported broken output capacitors , with this symptom .

Is this an original slimp3 or squeezebox 1 ?

The SB2 or SB3 have digital outputs , so conections to a DAC or a Digitla in on a reciever would work fine .
