I hope I am able. This app runs when I have not asked for it. I opened a ticket months ago and have not received any feedback.

Self starting apps are a sure sign of information greed.

I sure would like an Android alternative if y'all have suggestions.

Which app starts itself? I don't use squeezeplayer, but I do use orangesqueeze. I have never seen it spontaneously start.

BFL, Just curious what you're running Orangesqueeze on? I've seen this behavior on my wife's Nexus 5 phone running KitKat, but Orangesqueeze is not the only app that starts by itself on her phone. We both have the same phones and pretty much the same apps, but mine works just fine so I'm thinking her phone must be possessed so it is getting replaced. See this thread;

There is a bug when SqueezePlayer and OrangeSqueeze are installed side by side.

Sometimes (not always) when you receive a call and hang up, SqueezePlayer is started automatically by OrangeSqueeze.

Be assured that SqueezePlayer isn't sending any information to the internet (you can observe it, if you want to). It just receives remote streams of you connect to a radio station or similar and sends crash reports (after asking you)

It's not possession. Mine is also a Nexus 5. Fine phone.

This does not seem to be related to receiving a call. I notice it because SqueezePlayer throws a notification but most of the time it's OrangeSqueeze only running when I check Apps/Running. I checked it just now: OrangeSqueeze and no SqueezePlayer. Will SqueezePlayer work with the other app mentioned here?

Thx

You might try changing the Orange Squeeze Persistent Connection setting (under Advanced Preferences) to see if that stops the app from restarting itself in the background. Some of us in the past had the opposite issue (app stopped running in the background when we didn't want it to -- so that playback could be paused/muted on a phone call, for instance) and in fixing that, the app may now be overaggressive in keeping itself alive.

Alternatively, Squeeze Control will indeed work with SqueezePlayer.

There is a setting in OrangeSqueeze that tells it to start SqueezePlayer whenever it connects to a server. Perhaps that's why SP is getting started; you could try unchecking that option.

Do I want Immediately or Never?

Thanks

I would try "immediately"
