Can anyone help me?

I have a new HP iPAQ 6340 (PocketPC 2003). It is the new sort with GSM/GPRS/WiFi.

The http://IP:9000/handheld/ web page works great. However, if I try to load http://IP:9000/stream.mp3 into the iPAQ's Windows Media Player, WMP just complains that it cannot play that file.

I found a vague reference on the web that WMP on PocketPC can play MP3, but not MP3 streams.

So, I downloaded PocketMusic which claims (that as well as being the best PDA music player around) to play MP3 streams. When I load the URL, I can watch it buffer the stream upto 100% and then it stops (no error message is readable).

I have tested that the URL works on my laptop (with WMP10) and it is OK.

Does anyone have this working? Any clues?

Thanks

I'm afraid I don't know, but I'd love to know the answer. I've tried
(and failed) to do much the same thing with my C500 mobile phone (which
runs MS Windows CE for Smartphones, and which can use bluetooth to
connect to the LAN).

I'm pretty sure that if you can make it work, the same process will work
for the C500.

Hi,

I have the exact as Beesley, S. My device is an Qtek 8310 (WM 5). I stream perfectly from my PC and I can access http://IP:9000/handheld from my mobile, but if try to stream from mu mobile I get the same error as Beesley, S.

I know that this isn’t a solution, but now you know your not alone… :-)

Mobile Windows Media Player is trash, utter trash. It can't do anything well, even local content. It's pathetic on every level.

I highly recommend Conduits Pocket Player. It the best WM5 music player by far and does streaming well. If you want a free program, you can also try Mortplayer or TCPMP (does music, but is really best for video). But pocket player is worth the money IMO, try the others first though.

That said, i dont really see the point of streaming from slimserver when you can just stream the files directly over the network, which is what i do with Pocket Player (which supports FLAC, Ogg, album art and gapless playback and other things).

Beesley, S - you ought to try the good old, excellent and free TCPMP (The core pocket media player).
This works extremely well with both flac and mp3.
I agree with autopilot's suggestion of streaming directly from your file directory rather than through slimserver.
TCPMP also shows the album art!
