Tried a cool freeware app for the ppc (I have the dell axmin with 802.11b wireless) and have been enjoying tunes walking around the house all night with my "slim server walkman" :-)

I use this app to play the "stream.mp3" and then pop open internet explorer on my handheld using the "handheld" skin to navigate and stuff. Anyone interested can get the freeware player at: http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/

Can someone give me some direction as for the best programming language to develop a player, much like softsqueeze for the ppc? what are the requirements to talk to slim server, control it, receive the stream and play it? I would really like to see an all in one app to navigate AND play. Of course no one on this list seems to be much interested in all in one apps or integrating a web interface with an embedded player in one interfaceas most of my reqeusts and ideas dont get much play. Maybe at some point people will say "hey, itunes has a great interface for navigationg my music, I wonder if I could have that same navigation against my slim server and a built in player to boot!?!?"... Until then I'm stuck plucking away at numbers trying to spell and search.

Regards,
-Anthony

Anthony,

I am hearing you, you'll just need to give me some time to complete the
music search Softsqueeze ;). I am only getting about two evenings a week
to work on Softsqueeze at the moment, so progress is slow. Do you have
any feedback on the search in Softsqueeze 1.13 so far? And have you made
any progress with the headless applet?

Unfortunately I don't think this will help on your ppc, several Java
installations are available but they are mostly cut down 'personal
java'. I am also not sure if these versions of Java support the sound
api's, or if the ppc will have enough grunt to decode mp3's in Java. As
to other languages I have not experience programming on a ppc, so cannot
help here.

Regards,
Richard
