SB3, Duet & Boom EOL on firmware bugs.

Don't bother raising any bug fixes or enhancement requests on SB Classic, Boom or Duet, if these are not affecting Touch or Radio operations. It seems that development will not do any more iP3K platform changes, even when they introduced the change that caused the request.

Catch all from AWY (Logitech Developer):

All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform.
We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or
which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.

Bugs / Enhancements I know affected:

Good. Soon we'll have Booms at a discount. Can't wait for that.

I've seen a request, among the tickets you list, for Logi to open up the ipk3 firmware now development has stopped.
Now if *that* happens (hell freezing over), I may grab this old piece of tech called a Transporter as well...

Is there anything here that says Logitech wont fix *bugs*?

Of course there is a nasty bit of grey between bug and feature request and the distinction can be made on "political" grounds, but still I'd hope that these players will get REAL bugs fixed for some years to come. Unless I'm sadly mistaken....

It's more black than grey when the 'feature' requested is one that had previously been there for two years.

This is the problem with this product, what you buy isn't what you get, you eventually have to update, then you gain some bits and lose some bits......you wait a year, then somebody says 'old hat now' - tough luck!

That really is the key. When functionality is broken or removed by an update then users expect it to be fixed/restored even if the fix requires "development" work on older platforms. It is fine to say that the end of life stuff won't get new features but anything that breaks (or has already been broken and it waiting in the queue) needs to be addressed.
