if you feel that scans take too long, the UI's are too slow, read this thread:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60682 and vote for this bug: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14921 hopefully, eventually the optimization will be automated at install. in the meantime, there are the instructions, but BEWARE, this is AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! make copies FIRST of everything you change!!! don't do this unless you feel comfortable trying it, but if you do you should notice substantial improvements. Is this not too much work, when there soon will be a switch to SQLite from MySQL?

i'm not 100% positive, but i believe there will be a variation of this applicable to the forthcoming SQLite ver of SBS. AndyG needs our data in order to implement the feature.

interesting... your directory scan part only improved a min or two, but your musicip part improved by around 10min. in my case, i don't use musicip, but my directory scan improved by about 9min. i think other people will get better results since my music is on an ext usb2 drive.
hard drive cranking, any issues like that? webui response better?

On Linux systems the pre-installed database server is being used. The changes discussed would need to be applied to the main mysql instance. Configuration will influence other apps using it too. Be sure what you're doing. Configuration files most likely are in /etc/my.cnf or similar. |
