    Missing album art

I am missing a large number of album covers although the 'folder.jpg/png' files are in the relevant folders and I have done a complete library re-scan. This appears to be random; i.e. Having recently added a number of albums to the library and inserted the album art via Songbird's 'get artwork' facility where missing but only a handful appear on the Touch's screen (and on Squeezepad on my iPad) Further, a number of albums which previously displayed album covers do not do so now. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to why this may be happening.

    LMS Version: 7.5.4 - r32171

    Squeezebox Touch
    Firmware: 7.5.1-r9218

I use embedded art, so I'm not the most experienced with your issue, but I thought that the pictures needed to be 'cover.jpg' not sure about png. At least that's what I remember seeing suggested, but like I said I used embedded and never have any issues. Also, not sure if somehow the permissions of the art might be messed up, as that could cause issues too.

Thanks but how do I embed art?

As a counterpoint to rayman1701, I use the cover.jpg approach for all my FLAC files and don't have any problems either. So embedding art is not a magic bullet. If you want to embed album art then you can do it with several tagging programs. I would recommend mp3tag if you are on Windows.

You say you did a "complete library re-scan." Does that mean a clear-and-rescan, or just a rescan? To be on the safe side you should do a full clear-and-rescan. If that doesn't work, consider deleting your entire cache folder and letting SBS (since you're still running 7.5.4) build a new one.

Also, are there any patterns with respect to the size of the artwork, either in terms of number of KB or dimensions?

As another data point (with no observed problems on about 70,000 files). On FLAC files I use cover.jpg within the album directory (1000x1000 if available). On mp3/m4a files I embed artwork. I typically try to resize to 500x500 on embedded art.

I have a similar, but even stranger issue with artwork.
When restarting LMS artwork is visible for a couple of songs, to then just disappear. What's worse is that even the web interface is missing all icons at that moment

How do I clear the cache? I know how to do it in Squeezepad on the iPad but not at server level.

    Thank you,

If you are running LMS on Windows I believe there is an option in LMS "Control Panel" thingy to clear the cache. I don't know much about that since I don't run LMS on Windows. For other OSs you could just delete the cache folder. The location of the cache folder is shown in the LMS web interface under Settings > Information > [scroll down to the bottom]. Stop LMS, delete that folder, and restart LMS. It will rebuild everything.

Thank you, I will give it a go.
