How do I just use the SB touch and iPad only

Don't know if there is something wrong but I'm getting a really low opinion of squeezebox now. I replaced my sonos connect with a touch because it supports 24/96 but its been nothing but a pain in the arse. With the sonos I just had the connect and controlled it with my iPad app which is very well designed. The squezebox app looks cheap and seems to respond very slowly if at all. I have to use a SB media server and currently have it running on my QNAP NAS but either the media server, SB touch or iPad app seem to lose connectivity with each other. There is nothing wrong with my LAN as it is hard wired cat 6e run specially for streaming to my NAIM system.

Am I doing something wrong here??? All I want is to have is the SB touch connected to my pre-amp and control it via an iPad with my music stored on a NAS. Do I have to have this media server crap or mysquezebox.com malarkey.

Thinking very strongly about going back to sonos, even with its limitations just the fact it works and has an app that seems to have been designed with thought is blowing this annoying thing away currently.

PS Logitech support is appalling have emailed them god knows how many times and never once got a reply to my questions or request for help.

Yes, you do have to be running Logitech Media Server (LMS) somewhere in your system. On a NAS, on a PC, etc. Not sure why you're having problems. I do know that some very underpowered NAS units struggle to run LMS. You might temporarily install LMS on a PC and see if that works any better and that may also help diagnose the issues with your current NAS setup. If you do decide to keep the SB setup, you will find that the iPengHD app or the SqueezePad app are head and shoulders above the logitech free app.

mysqueezebox.com is "LMS in the cloud". One can connect to this without a local LMS if you don't want to play your own music (i.e., you use internet radio, pandora, MOG, spotify, etc.). But even with your local LMS, you would still create a mysqueezebox.com account and enter the credentials in your local LMS. This is so you can use some of the squeezebox apps, listen to things like Pandora, etc. If you don't care about any of these things and ONLY want to play your own music, you don't have to register with mysb.com and there is some way of swiping or something to go past the screen asking for this. In my opinion, setting up the free account on mysb.com is a good idea and gives you more features with the players. Your choice.

This is really getting on my nerves now. Have just paid £7 for the squeezepad app and installed the media server on a spare pc (acer revo running win 7 ultimate)

Worked for about 10 mins until I played a spotify playlist and squeezepad went blank, music continued playing and after a few minutes now has a big red block saying "no player detected" the media server is now saying the same thing. Rebooted PC and reset SB touch and neither can still see the touch.

This is a pile of absolute wanky shite and I don't know why I bought this fucking piece of useless drivel!!!!!!!

Problem solved, have just thrown the piece of shit in the bin.

Will go to the hifi shop tomorrow and buy something that works. I have never come across such an annoying piece of useless shit as this cunt of a product.

No, the problem sounds like a loose nut between the car seat and the steering wheel (user error). A lot of folks around here that would have helped diagnose your problems and assist. But i suspect your juvenile temper tantrum kept them from responding. I'm sorry I even tried.

This is after weeks of trying, I was hoping to get support from Logitech but hey haven't responded to any (non ranty) emails. I doubt if it is user error, I design very large ip voice networks and have already setup my main naim system with an ndx and this is for my home office. All I wanted is a simple little streamer connected to a supernait so I can listen to the radio and music whist working.

Either I have got a dodgy unit or it is a piece of crap, I suspect it is the media sever software at fault as it seems to be very buggy.

Anyway it's in the bin now and I'm going to buy a sonus tomorrow.

Please write me, if you want a refund for SqueezePad (support(at)squeezepad.com). We can arrange a refund directly via PayPal or you write to Apple via the "report a problem" button in your purchase confirmation e-mail, which works as well to get a refund via credit card.

As you can see in the AppStore comments SqueezePad works fine for the vast majority of people, so for whatever reason something in your environment must be very strange.
Anyway - if you are unhappy you have every right to get a refund as easy as is possible in the iOS world.

Did you know: SqueezePlayer will stream all your music to your Android device. Take your music everywhere!
Remote Control + Streaming to your iPad? Squeezebox + iPad = SqueezePad

Well we are not Logitech, just experienced users willing to provide info. I have two whole house systems (see sig) and it all works very well with little or no intervention from me. Just like a Sonos system, but better. ;-)

Have you tried _phoning_ Logitech? Meanwhile, the "very buggy" software is working very well for thousands of pedestrian users like me who wouldn't know how to begin designing a large ip voice network, so yeah, it must the server software and could not possibly be something else with your setup. Maybe in your situation you do need a Sonos to really tie the room together.

I am sorry you had so many issues. For me it has just worked except for the occasional wifi dropout. And I am pretty much a computer noob. If you want, I am sure there are folks here that would still help you.Sometimes thinking one knows how something should function is the block itself to getting it to work. Whatever you decide I hope you find some happiness w it.
