LMS won't recognise new music files.

I have recently added a number of new music files/folders manually to my library, however even after a complete rescan of library they won't display in 'Music' or 'new music' or any other search criteria. They are all valid MP3 files. Has anyone experienced the same problem? I have had no such problem in the past.

    Version: 7.5.4 - r32171
    MySQL Version: 5.0.22
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    Player Model: Squeezebox Touch
    Firmware: 7.5.1-r9218

    Thank you,

    Philip Bergman

I assume you've tried either a "scan for new and changed" or a complete "clear and rescan" within SqueezeboxServer (webGUI > Settings > basic tab). Simply adding the files to the music directory is not enough to make SbS/LMS pick up the files.
    Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)
    Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
    Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
    Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify

Can you see the new folders/music files if you browse the "Music Folder", which is where you put the new music files?

If you play the new music from there it should appear in the "New Music" section straight afterwards.

Playing one of the missing tracks works in as far as it does play and appears in 'Now playing' on the Squeezebox Touch however it still doesn't appear in 'New music' so I'm really no further on solving this. Oddly I've noticed that one of the albums copied into the library with this batch that doesn't appear in in 'New music' does!

What are the dates on those files compared to what is showing as new music? LMS uses the file timestamps to determine what is new music. So if these files were created some time ago then they won't be recognized as "new" music, even though they are new to the library. And conversely, if editing tags on old files is allowed to update the timestamps, then those albums suddenly become "new" music.

Yes, that's the problem, thank you for pointing out what should have been obvious. Now all I have to do is change all the timestamps!
