LMS on PC can't scan music on NAS

I just got a Qnap NAS which now contains all my music (BTW, I'm also running LMS on it and things are running fine and sounding good). Just to make things run the same as it used to on my PC (which used to be where LMS is run and is still running), I tried to rescan (with the PC) the music on my NAS which is showing up as a mapped drive on it (say Z:\) . However, it would just go into the scan a bit (I see a couple of folder names in the status) and it would stall. No music shows up on the library. I know I'm not dying from it (since LMS on the NAS is up and running), but I am quite frustrated as to why it wouldn't scan. It does not look like an authorization issue because I can access that Z drive on Windows explorer with no problem. The only difference between now and then is that the music is now on a network drive instead of an external USB drive.

    What can be wrong?

    Thanks.

If it doesn't look like permissions you could try giving LMS the full network path instead of the mapped drive..?

    Something like \\NAS\Media\Music

    Thanks.
I tried full path, too. Same thing.
    Any other thing to try?

    - use the full UNC (\\server\path\)
    - give LMS your user's credentials if you're running it as a background service

The problem is that in service mode LMS is not allowed to access network resources. Unless you have it run as a specific user who does have those permissions. But you have to tell LMS to do so in the control panel.

    Hi Michael!

I looked around in control panel but could not seem to find where I can enter credentials. Can you please give me further details?

    Thanks.

Sorry for sounding stupid. I went to start up options. the only way I can enter login details is if i set it to start when system starts instead of upon login. When I did that andd inserted details, it wouldn't even automatically start. What should I do?

    Thanks.
