    Anyone having problems with SKYFM?

Lately the SkyFM Premium stream has been unstable with occasional cutting out for short periods.
It's a very infrequent occurance but still annoying and something that should not be happening. It does start right up after the short (5-15+second) stoppage. It does not happen with any other subscription service.
I have reported it to their customer service and they do not seem to be having any technical issues to their knowledge.

Is anyone else having anything similar with SKYFM service? Thank you.

UPDATE: I would like to delete this post because I am no longer experiencing this issue. All is well with SKY.FM now.

    SKY.FM Premium

Ikabob (or any other knowledgeable individual),

Hello. I'm a relatively new Squeezebox Touch user, so I'm still learning the ropes. I recently subscribed to SKY.FM Premium service. I have not figured out how to stream the premium channels on the Touch. Please tell me how to do it.

    Best regards...

I'll try to help you. Since you apparently already have a SkyFm premium account you will need to install the app into "my apps" of mysqueezebox.com.
Establish a mysqueezebox.com account. I assume that you probably already have this. So, go to mysqueezebox.com>app gallery. Choose the SkyFm app and install it into your msb.com account. Then go to "my apps" and find SkyFm listed. Then configure so that your SkyFm registered username (email address) matches your new SkyFm chosen username. Once that is done, go to "player settings" and enable it for your Touch. If you would like SkyFm to be listed on your Touches Home Menu you may choose that, as well.

Now that all that is done, you should find SkyFm listed under "my apps". By clicking on that SkyFm app, you will find all the SkyFm genres that are available. There are some very nice ones depending on your tastes and what I like is the stream is very good which results on high quality sound. What type of music do you like?

I believe I have explained this correctly. Please let me know if this works for you. Good luck.

    SKY.FM Success!

    Ikabob,

By golly, you've done it! Well, I've done it with your instruction. Thank you!

Is this different from the premium service, or is it the same thing?

I'm still exploring the different channels, but my wife really likes the World channels. [I like it, too.] I'm listening to the Piano channel now. I've tried a couple Jazz channels, which I like. That's about all so far. I happen to like a pretty wide range of music.

My Touch is hooked up to the DAC in my amplifier via the optical cable. This audio system is a newish one for me.

Amp: Simaudio i3.3 integrated amp [with DAC upgrade and balanced inputs upgrade]
    Speakers: PSB Synchrony Two
    SqueezeBox Touch

That's all I have for now. I love the Simaudio amp. My old amp was a Denon DRA-685. What a huge difference between the two amps! Our old CD player is dying, but my wife doesn't want to part with it just yet. I secretly lust after ProAc D28 floor standing speakers, but I suspect it will be a while before I get those.

There's so much to learn here. Thank you again for your excellent help. Kudos!

Yes, there is so much to learn, but once you go through the learning process, the system that you and your wife enjoy will be unbelievably great. The music and talk radio selections are unending.
There are some great radio stations that are available and the streams are so good that the sound quality is very realistic. It's just like having the performers right in your listening room. Personally, I listen to music etc via LMS with the pc on 24/7. I find that to be more functional than listening via mysb.com.
If you would like some good listening Internet radio stations I'd be glad to introduce you to some depending on your music tastes.
Regarding SkyFm, I specifically like the classical stations, especially "mostly classical", ""classical pops". Also a very interesting newer one is called "compact discoveries". For the older crowd I really enjoy "American songbook".
The jazz stations are very good too. What I like the best about SkyFm is the high speed streams that allows very high quality fidelity.

But listening to internet radio has so much to offer. Some stations will often broadcast live performances of concerts. During those broadcasts I sometimes recline in my listening chair, turn all the lights down, and escape to the concert hall. Sometimes my wife will join me. But even if the performance is not live, with the Touch plus your music system, even a recorded performance can be extremely realistic.

It is such a shame that LOGITECH has discontinued the Touch and the other great Internet radio devices. I have many friends who would like to put together a system such as yours and mine but I cannot recommend to them any possibilities. The Touch is gone from production and that is so unfortunate.
Oh well, we are lucky that we have one and can appreciate the ecosystem.
So, ask a lot of questions, Aranor. Learn about the great Squeezebox Touch possibilities. There are so many experts (not me, im still learning) on this forum who have helped me and will help you. Enjoy!

I'm listening to Compact Discoveries now. It reminds me on MPR from the 1980s. My father used to listen to MPR for hours, so I listened, too! Good stuff so far.

    Thanks for the suggestions!
