My LMS is running on a Mac Mini (Snow Leopard). It's set to sleep after 3 hours and set to wake up if the WOL is sent. If its sleeping and I attempt to connect one of the SqueezeBox 3s or Touch then they wake it up and life is good!
I've managed to setup SoftSqueeze on my mac book and I can stream over the internet by setting up port forwarding, it works well, life is good.
HOWEVER....
If the LMS machine goes to sleep, SoftSqueeze doesn't seem to send the WOL signal so it doesnt wake up. Life isn't so good :-(
What I trying to do if have the LMS machine sleep after 3 hours or so to save energy but I want to be able to wake it up remotely so I can stream music whilst away.
Any ideas?
I have even tried WakeOnLan app on the mac book sending the WOL over the internet but it doesn't seem to wake it up. It seems to use port 9 which I've also port forarded to the LMS machine
TIA!

Weird
If I force the LMS machine to sleep (and it does seem to be sleeping) then I can wake it up over the web using WakeOnLan app
However I think if I leave it another couple of hours it goes into a 'deeper' sleep and cannot be woken.
Odd.

SoftSqueeze can connect via web to LMS - SqueezePlay cannot
How come SS can connect to my LMS via a WAN address but SP cannot.
I'm still trying to find a way to get the WOL magic packet to be sent to the LMS remotely so I can wake it up.
I'm starting to think I'll have to leave the LMS on all the time, i.e. no sleep state as nothing seems to wake it up remotely!

Your problem is that wol doesn't work over the Internet, only on a LAN, not a wan. Have a google on wake on wan, rather than LAN, and you'll see the forwarding that's required.
