So is there a difference between the display on an sb1G and sb2/3 or is the difference between the SB1 and the rest?

There's a difference in both the display AND the rest of the functionality of the device.
As for the display: the SB1g had a 280x16 display while the SB2/3 had a 320x32 display (with greyscale support)

Ahh so the link to supplier in the link above is for the 280 *16 display,
I'll have a look for the 320*32 version too.

True the faulty one is an SBG but I thought that if I was putting n order in to Japan I might as well stock up.
I also have SB2's 3's and a Transporter
