Thanks guys. I appreciate the tips and feedback. I've put the USB control issue on the back burner for now until I figure out whether or not I'll be using it much (see my earlier posts about attempting to use a USB hard drive on the Touch). If I can't get the USB connection working reliably then controlling from my laptop is a mute point.

agree. (but do keep in mind that installing Squeezeplay on your laptop to control the Touch with USB attached is about a 3 minute operation). And I use SqueezePlay to control my players from my laptop most of the time even though I am NOT using the TinyLMS with attached USB. I find Squeezeplay to be easier to use than the LMS WebGUI.

Interesting. Perhaps I'll go ahead and give Squeezeplay a try.

I do have a question, though, if you don't mind. When I first got the Touch and loaded LMS on my laptop, I had to go through a few days of gyrations and a session with Norton tech support to get LMS to play nice with my Norton firewall/antivirus (it's working fine now). It was very frustrating. Given that I had this issue with LMS, how likely is it that I'll have to go through the same with Sqeezeplay? If there's a good chance I'll have issues getting Squeezeplay to play nice with Norton, then I'd just assume skip all that aggravation and just stick with LMS (I'm not very computer savvy nor do I enjoy troubleshooting).

    Thanks again for the feedback.

Try it and see. Hard to predict what someone elses system & software is going to do under unknown conditions.

shouldn't be a problem. install and try. if you have hassles, just uninstall and move on. And again, once installed, you have to CHOOSE PLAYER and choose the touch you want to control. This is because you can also CHOOSE PLAYER and choose the install of squeezeplay itself as a software SB player. This is how you would stream music to your laptop itself.

    So true.

Ok, you talked me into it. I'll give it a try when I get a chance (have other priorities today) and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again for the responses.

Ok, just downloaded Squeezeplay as suggested.

Good News: Squeezeplay seems to be working; no issues with Norton, I can access the music on my laptop, internet radio, and my apps. Seems more responsive than LMS, launches much quicker, and I don't have to use a web browser.

Bad News: Couldn't find the USB stick on Squeezeplay. I went to the Touch thinking perhaps I have to select USB to get Squeezeplay to recognize it the first time. Touch wouldn't access the plugged in USB stick (tried multiple times), nor would it eject the USB stick so I could try reconnecting it. Out of frustration I just turned the Touch off and pulled the USB stick out. Touch woke up and displayed the warning I may have damaged the files on it; don't care, there's nothing on there I cannot replace. I'm done with USB for now, way too fussy/frustrating.

Also, if I would like to add a song to what I'm currently playing, I don't see how to do that in SP. Am I missing something?

The same way you would do it on the Touch itself. Go to the track you want, then press (or click) and hold for 3-5 seconds. That will pop up context menu, which includes the options: Add to End, Play Next, Play, Save to Favorites, etc.

Btw, the problems you're having with the USB this time are completely unrelated to the fact that you're accessing the Touch via SP. Just a coincidence that it chose to act up then.

Yes, on album or track, click with left mouse and hold until you see popup menu.

And squeezeplay is not taking the place of LMS. You are running LMS no matter what. Squeezeplay is taking the place of the LMS webGUI. Both are simply controlling LMS. You can also do this from smart phones, tablets, etc. but LMS is still running somewhere in the background.
