Btw, the problems you're having with the USB this time are completely unrelated to the fact that you're accessing the Touch via SP. Just a coincidence that it chose to act up then.
Thanks. I didn't know I could do that on the Touch either.

Yeah, I figured the USB issue had nothing to do with SP since the USB port has been flaky from day one. I'm wondering if the USB port was an afterthought. I mean, USB had been around forever. How hard is it for Logitech to make it reliable. Shoot, my many year old Oppo 980H has a USB port that has always worked reliably.

Thank you. I see it also gives more info about the track as well.

It's not the USB port that is flaky. The flakiness comes from trying to run LMS on the Touch itself, when the Touch's hardware specs (ie, CPU and RAM) are borderline, at best, for running LMS.

EDIT: If you want to prove that to yourself, try using an SD memory card instead of a USB stick. The performance will be equally flaky, and it's not because of poor implementations of the USB port or SD slot.

I see. It's too bad Logitech didn't implement this better, even if it meant charging a little more for more memory/faster processor/etc. I would have gladly paid more to have that feature working well. As it is the USB/SD feature is pretty useless for me.

That said, when researching the Touch I did read that USB performance could be flaky, so I was aware of the issue when I bought it. I was hoping I would be on of the lucky ones that didn't have issues.

After working out the initial setup issues and despite my complaints, I'm pretty pleased with the Touch as a wireless streaming device.

The really unfortunate thing is that by the time they were able to bring it to market almost one year later than planned they probably could have had better hardware at no extra cost. But hindsight is usually 20-20.

[QUOTE=Saturn94;713446]Ok, just downloaded Squeezeplay as suggested.

Good News: Squeezeplay seems to be working; no issues with Norton, I can access the music on my laptop, internet radio, and my apps. Seems more responsive than LMS, launches much quicker, and I don't have to use a web browser.

Well that was short lived. The other day when I downloaded Squeezeplay it seemed to be working fine. Out of curiosity I shut down LMS to see if SP would work without it, and it did.

Today I booted up my laptop and opened SP, but could not get it to connect to the Touch. I had to open LMS, choose the Touch in LMS, then go back to SP. Oh, and when I did go back to SP, I could select a music file and SP and the Touch would indicated it was playing, but there was no sound! I had to shut down SP then bring it back up; now the sound is back. What a royal pain in the a$$! I just want the damn thing to work. (sorry, as you can tell I get frustrated easily with flaky computer crap).

Should I be able to just use SP without having to launch LMS, or do I always have to use LMS first to select the Touch before being able to use SP? Am I doing something wrong or missing something? If I have to launch LMS each time, it seems using SP is just adding another step to the process; might as well just use LMS when it comes up.

Thanks for helping this newby through his streaming growing pains.

No, you must be running LMS to use SP. SP is not a replacement for LMS. SP is a software *player* and a software *controller*. You'll still need LMS running somewhere. The title of this thread is about controlling TinyLMS running on Touch from laptop. TinyLMS does NOT have a webGUI for controlling from laptop. But with SP installed on your laptop, you can control TinyLMS from laptop. If you are running LMS on your laptop (and not using TinyLMS on the touch), then you don't really need SP. You can just enter the following in any web browser:

    http://localhost:9000/

And you'll then see the LMS webGUI and can control what is playing, etc.

Ah, I see now. I misunderstood as I thought SP replaced LMS. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

We'll, at least if I decide to try to tackle the Touch's USB feature again I have SP to control it from my laptop. The evening I downloaded SP I couldn't get the Touch to connect to my USB memory stick, even though it worked the day before, so I gave up. I never did get to try using SP to control the USB feature.

By the way, even though I can simply use the WebGUI to control my SB players, I actually prefer to use SqueezePlay for control from my laptop. One key reason is that browsing artists or albums is clunky for me with webGUI. I can't see a single long list to scroll through. Instead I have to click headings, such as A-D, E-H, etc. Where in SP, I click on ARTIST, and I can scroll quickly to any ARTIST in the list. You may not notice this depending on how many artists and albums you have. I have over 5000 CDs, so I notice this issue a lot....

Good point. My collection isn't near as large as yours so it hasn't been big deal for me.....yet.
