Hi
I'm using the Facebook plugin to post to my wall various albums I might be listening to. When I view my wall post on a desktop PC web browser, I see two lines of information:
The first states "Nick just shared music from a Squeezebox".
The second, for example states "I'm listening to Automatic For The People by R.E.M..".
Now, if I view this on a mobile phone using the official Facebook App (Android and iOS both work the same), I only see the first line of text, i.e. "Nick just shared music from a Squeezebox". Pretty useless.
So, my question is, can this be changed so that anyone viewing my status updates from a mobile phone can see which album it is I am listening to?
Thanks
Nick

No, unless you post from an iThingy with iPeng.

There are two things you need to know:
1. Links can only be posted when you use services like Spotify or MOG (you can't link to your server)
2. Facebook these days filters out the text iPeng automatically adds to a post.
To get around that you need one additional manual step: "hold" the entry field to bring up the black iOS "edit" menu, that menu contains an entry to paste the information about the current track: track, artist and album.
Link posting works with most services also for track your are NOT playing right now.
Originally iPeng posted the whole text automatically but Facebook doesn't allow that anymore and automatically filters it now if you use their standard dialogs.
But the major use case really is to post stuff that can include a link since that's also what makes sense for people to read. I men: just reading that you are listening to something doesn't add a lot of value. Getting a link to listen to the same thing, too, does; that's how I discover a lot of new music these days.Last edited by pippin; 2012-08-04 at 16:34.

Hummm...if I were to use this, I'd mostly want to use it to show off and brag about all the esoteric stuff I have in my library. (Complete organ works of Messiaen, anyone?). For me, it would be a vanity thing more than an added value thing. That and the fact that I don't have an internet connection that allows for more than token streaming means that I'll never have links to share.
