    Wrong sorting in Music Folder

    Hi All,

Don't know how to post a bug in LMS to Logitech so decided to get some help here
I got both files and folders in my "Music Folder". They are sorted alphanumeric I guess. But folders don't go first. Files and folders are all mixed up and that's pretty annoying.
Any suggestions how to fix this or then it will be fixed in LMS?

    Thanks

This sounds as if it is an issue w how how your library is organized and or tagged. If you give more detail some may be able to offer suggestions.

Well, that wouldn't really be a "fix" but rather a change request since it's just a change in behavior.

I don't think there's a "right" way to do this, just different preferences. Windows usually sorts folders first so that's probably what Windows users are mostly used to while most other operating systems sort alphabetically so Mac or Linux users will be used to the current behavior...

I use Linux for ages both X and console and folders always come first.
As for Windows users you have to admit that they are still in majority.
So it's not a preference but a common practice.

It has nothing to do with tags. Library is organized quite simple. Files are mostly in folders, some are not. I'm talking about "My Music" -> "Music Folder". I'm sure it is intended to return files/directories unchanged as they are on disk with regard to common practice of showing file listings. But right now it may show a folder than a file and a folder again if we go from top to the bottom of file listing.

Seriously? If you type "ls -l", or even simply "ls" in a terminal window, you get all folders first? What distro is that? With debian and Ubuntu I get an alphabetical ordering, with files and folders appearing interspersed throughout, in alphabetical order.

Use mp3tag to automatically create appropriate folders for all the stray files. And LMS works much better using artist, album tags rather than music folder. If file naming is good, mp3tag can automatically fill tags from file names. Worth looking into.
