Last few weeks my old SB2 has been acting strange. Whilst listening to internet radio it would occassionally crackle for a few seconds (it sounded like what you hear when you manually tune a fm radio) and then turn itself off and on. At the time I thought it was the SB2 coming to the end of its life.
Now I've found the server has shut itself off and will not turn back on, it's a fanless mini itx, could this be the fault of the psu ? I noticed the SB2 still wants to power up and find a server.
As you can tell I'm not too au fait with fault finding so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks !
Bruce

To confirm all is well with the SB2 you may want to temporarily install LMS on another PC on your network and see if the problem goes away while using that server. (BTW, you don't need a local server to listen to internet radio; just switch over to mysqueezebox.com.)
If the server is at fault, it could be any number of things. Install RealTemp and see what is happening with the CPU temp; it may be hitting its thermal shutoff. Cleaning out the case, removing any airflow obstructions, and installing a case fan might help. Otherwise, it's trial-and-error and starting with the PSU is probably the easiest first step and most likely if the PSU won't power back up after a shutdown. If by "will not turn back on" you mean that it powers back up but quits sometime during the POST process, that would point to a problem with the motherboard, CPU or RAM. Be sure the RAM is properly seated. Unplug the device from the wall before poking around inside as there are electrical shock risks.

Music is back ! Thanks replacing the PSU with a new one has done the trick. When it came in the post couldn't believe how small it was, it just slots into the motherboard now, wow !
