Why is it that I can listen to web radio stations on my PC and not on my squeeze box radio. There are a few that I can listen to both on my PC and internet radio but others not. Could it be due to the kind of streaming they use which not supported by my squeeze box radio?. Is there any way to get around it?, install a third party software may be?.

could be streaming format. post a couple of stations here you are trying to get but can't, and some of us can test on our end.

Hmmm, tried finding both of these in the tunein radio app and no luck. As far as I can tell from their websites, they are streaming only in some sort of web-imbedded player and not in a manner that can be picked up by squeezeboxes. There are radio stations like this (not many), and often they don't understand that people can listen to their streams in some way OTHER THAN a web-embedded browser player. Often you can contact the station and explain this and have them simply setup a way to ALSO stream in a way that can be listened to in a squeezebox or other networked media player. It's an AAC stream, try cutting & pasting that URL into your Favorites.
WQBA is not playable from the same source.
Both stations have limited distribution and often are not even listed on some of the biggest station aggregate services out there. Write to the stations.
