Thread: Backup

    Backup

I am going to have to re-install everything on my pc, so I will obviously loose LMS. Is there a way of backing up all my pre-sets, favourites etc. so I can just restore them when I re-install LMS?

    Hi,

go to your LMS setting page and look where your settings located. My settings are under /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs. Save this dir and copy it back.

I make a backup from the complete /var/lib/squeezeboxserver dir and from the playlist dir.

Are you using any third party plugins ?
I'm just asking, because if you use TrackStat, Custom Browse, Multi Library, SQL Playlist, Custom Skip you might also have configuration/data files for these which you need to ensure you have backed up.

Ther only Server folder I could find was in Program Files\Squeezebox, so I backed that up, then restored it over the new copy, but all my presets haven't come back. Only the ones on Squeezebox server. My presets, and favourites on LMS seem to have gone.

I guess it's too late now since you have already re-installed it, but if you want to do it again in the future you can find the location of the "Preferences folder" by looking in SBS/LMS Settings/Information tab in the LMS/SBS web interface.

Thanks Erland. Yeah, bit too late, but nerver mind. Just another quick question. Before I realised the difference between MySqueezebox and media server, it seems some of my favourites were saved to MySqueezebox, so these were different to those on my radio (media server). Can I sync these, or copy them over from one to the other, so I have the same presets/favourites on both? Or am I asking for too much.

Just noticed. When I'm logged on to LMS, and choose favourites, I can access MySqueezebox favourites from there. Can't remember that being there before. Learning everyday.

I think they should be synced automatically, but I'm not sure if it maybe depends on how the "mysqueezebox.com Integration" parameter is set in "LMS Settings/mysqueezebox.com page".

Maybe someone else seeing this thread knows exactly how it's supposed to work ?

The Favorites are not sync'd between Logitech Media Server (LMS) and mysqueezebox.com, no matter what the "mysqueezebox.com Integration" setting is. Access from one to the other is asymmetric.

    1) If you save a Favorite while connected to LMS, then it is stored on LMS and invisible to mysb.com

    2) If you save a Favorite while connected to mysb.com, it is saved on mysb.com. It is also visible to LMS and accessible via LMS by using the "Favorites on mysqueezebox.com" link at the bottom of your list of LMS favorites.

A few of us have adopted the trick of putting all of our Favorites on LMS, uploading the favorites.opml file from LMS to a web server, and then making the URL for that opml file the only Favorite on mysb.com. That way you can keep LMS and mysb.com in sync more easily, you only have to remember to upload the fresh favorites.opml file every time you modify the Favorites in LMS. The SBs themselves can navigate the OPML file on mysb.com just fine, but the web-based "remote control" for mysb.com cannot parse the file correctly.
