Boom for Spares

Anyone interested in buying my Boom for spares. Speakers are fine etc but it will no longer power on. All buttons are just lighting up and going off.

Would prefer local pickup from Poynton, Cheshire

Have you tried replacing the WLAN card ?

mt SB3 died and I replaced the WLAN card and it now works OK. I found an OEM WLAN card (not the TPlink one) which was compatible and only cost 9euro on ebay.

Before my SB3 failed totally it did that a few times - sometimes the display just flickered on/off. When I removed WLAN it worked OK so as a stop gap I used the SB3 wired until I sourced a replacement WLAN. Not sure if Boom will work without a WLAN but it can't do the Boom any more harm.

Initially I thought it was the PSU so I swapped with a Touch PSU to see if problems followed PSU.

A good thing with the SB3 was that it initially ( in the slim devices days ) was also sold in a Ethernet only version without the wifi card.
So it boots up just fine with it removed, I'm not sure if the other players are that nice about it, for example I think a squeezebox reciever will fail to boot .

Btw was it not some one on this forum that had a bunch of these wifi cards ?
