    Simple EQ?

I am looking for a simple treble and bass EQ for adjusting. Is there any plugin available? Is the CPU too weak for handling an eq?

    Regards, Jan

Running local lms? If so on what OS/computer. More specifics would be helpful.
    Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)
    Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
    Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
    Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify

    Sorry, let me clarify myself:

I am using Squeezebox Radio streaming Internet radio via a Wifi-network (which works great) like a "standalone" device. I am not using any server set up. I read in older posts that an EQ was eventually/maybe planed in a future update of the firmware.

All I would like is little less treble, on some channels voices tend to sound a bit harsh.

    No, nothing currently.

    Thanks for your prompt reply!

Too bad. A simple EQ would be a nice feature to implement, I know people are looking for this. The device on it self sounds very balanced, but some radio stations are not "balanced.

    regards,

Yep. Boom had treble and bass controls, which were nice.

Agreed - a little extra bass and quite a bit of extra treble makes the Boom sound perfect IMO (that's how I've always set up every audio device - personal preference). The Radio doesn't match it I'm afraid. Does anyone know if the Boom's tone controls are implemented through hardware or software?

AFAIU, the Boom EQ-ing (and other sound processing) is done with a DSP which is controlled via the firmware. I'm not aware of the Radio having a DSP like that.

Yes I think there is some kind of dsp hardware chip in Boom it also does the xover , radio is simpler would be able run that in fw .

They could have included dirt cheap good old analog tone controls on radio ? that would have made most sense in that kind of device .

The clever Logitech DSP all seems to happen through alsa plugin(s), I think. I could be wrong. Ideally we would be given another, dirt cheap, EQ plugin to add into the chain. Could it be that simple ?

A couple of months ago I formed the conclusion that the hardware codec/amplifier/thingummy could be induced to do some filtering. Just a matter of figuring good DSP filter values to load up, and into which chip registers to load them. Looks like it could be done from the command line (amixer) as the registers appeared to have been exposed to view (De-Emphasis Filters [1]). It's a while since I looked, but I don't think memory is playing tricks on me. Existing software seemed to be leaving them untouched. Of course, it could ruin all the good work done by Logitech's DSP !

My goal would be to add a simple bass unboost button to quell boomy baritone announcers. But it's not going to happen for a while unless someone else does it. There'd be some intricacies around switching to and from headphones, etc., because the chip's input & output is mapped differently from normal speakers.

So that's the programme... but no start date specified.

[1] Edit: I meant to say Digital Effects filters, not De-Emphasis filters.
