Internet radio works fine. Always has except for a couple of wifi issues (connectivity). So, I have no clue at the moment, probably something real simple that I've not done.
Again, I appreciate yours and others advice and help. I now have to get on to more important things and go with the wife to take our dogs for a wash and brush up.

Firewalls ?
Whats the ip off the squeezebox itself ?
192.168.1.139 Is(was) the serving PC then the Squeezebox should have 192.168.1.X where X is anything thats is not used by something else I asume your router is 192.168.1.1 all subnets mask should be the same for example 255.255.255.0 .
If you want your pc to show it's settings in more detail use a dos prompt and "ipconfig" command .
Your wifi router does it have some kind of guest wifi network ? or do you perhaps use two routers or a cable modem with ethernet where the PC is conected and then a wifi router for wifi things ?
A common mistake with two routers is to hook up second routers wan to a lan port on the first router thus creating a second network on router 2 ,router 2 wan ip is lan ip on router 2 . You learn when you wonder why you have to portforward in two places to make your torrents work
Or a single port cable modem and forget to bridge it , or etc .There are endless possibilities for weird network setup .
Your symptoms looks like the kind of trouble folk gets when the device is not on the same network as the server , or when a firewall is blocking things on the server .
Can you tell us bit more about how your network is wired together ? You can have what looks like correct addresses and stuff and still have an setup error ?
I don't have that much experience with multiple AP and stuff , small apartment , others here have houses and possibly experience hooking up more elaborate home lan .--------------------------------------------------------------------

We have FIOS with a Frontier Router and I access through a wifi usb connector. I have wondered if it is a firewall issue. I have Vipre internet security. I did go in to the Router yesterday, but didn't change anything due to inexperience. I was also wondering if it was my torrent software (I download live music - nothing pirated I add).
I have a dual boot system, and have just installed LMS on my Win 7 partition. It loaded okay and the player is recognized. It works okay on this system (I can access My Stuff from the player), but not on the Vista partition (I say partition but they are separate hard drives).
The Win 7 has basic AVG protection with Windows Firewall.
Perhaps I should contact Vipre, although I know the squeezeboxtray.exe app is in the allowed list.
The IP of the player is 169.168.1.4 with the IP of the PC server 169.168.1.2
Somehow on the Vista system, the player does not get recognized. The info page on the WIn 7 LMS shows Players Recognized: 1
I appreciate your help.

Ok then, looks like you can exclude your network hardware/software completely as it works in another OS on the same computer on the same network . so no apparent need to do anything in the router .
My current windows experience is not much ( been using Linux lately ) re firewalls use only one, some manages to have more than one active ? why not try windows own firewall I think LMS itself preconfigure exceptions on install .
also noted that disabling any fw or av software does not *really* disable them :-/ and some does not even unistall properly ( older norton as example ) btw the importan ports to keep open is 3483 udp/tcp and 9000 tcp .
See if Vipre has options for open specific ports .
if you have more than one PC you can also acess the servers Web-UI from another machine http://192.168.1.x:9000 ( replace x with what's on the server ) this will also tell you if things are working .
Note if the serving is using dhcp ( most are ) the adress may change ( there are ways around that )Last edited by Mnyb; 2012-07-01 at 04:22.

Well, a dual boot system on a different OS could certainly complicate things. As I mentioned earlier you *must* find out if any other programs running are trying to access those same ports, like your torrents.
But, now that you have the Radio connected to LMS I'd advise you to add two items to your Home menu that will likely help you if these issues happen again.
Add these two Switch items to the Home menu by navigating to them then press "+" on your Radio, select "move to Home menu".
1. Radio > My Music > Switch Library
2. Radio > Settings > Advanced > Networking > Switch to MySB.com

Thanks everybody. It's my firewall (Vipre). I just disabled it, and the player is recognized and I can access my stuff. Even though I had /have the squeezebox.exe in my exceptions list, there must be something else, perhaps the ports. I'll call vipre tomorrow.
Edit: Vipre were working this morning (Sunday) and helped me out. It looks like while I had squeezebox.exe (the tray icon) in the exceptions list, by looking at the vipre firewall history, we saw that squeezesvr was being blocked on ports 9000 and 3483. A simple right click to allow seems to have cured this. I'll monitor it, and hopefully a reboot at some time doesn't put it back into a problem situation.
I can now play my Alice Cooper collection anywhere in the house - isn't that wonderful?
Again - thanks to everyone who chipped in, certainly had more patience than Logitech had on Friday, although I admit it was a firewall issue an not LMS.
Cheers.Last edited by DaveElson; 2012-07-01 at 09:14.
