I tried LMS both on my old (2006) 1,66 GHz Core Duo Mac Mini and its successor, a 2010 2,4 GHz Core2Duo MacMini. No performance issues at all. Even on my ancient 867 Mhz G4 PowerBook it works fine.

One ought to restart it (LMS) every other day though, as it tends to get increasingly unresponsive after a couple of days of 24/7 uptime.

hmmm, shouldn't. I sometimes go several months without rebooting my vortexbox appliance (or restarting LMS). And it runs 24/7.
    Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)
    Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
    Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
    Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify

My mac mini typically goes weeks between restarts.

My WHS 2011 box only gets booted monthly when updates are installed.

My 2010 MacMini runs like a charm, too (iirc my current uptime is > 43 days). It is LMS 7.8 that does not run so well and thus requires an occasional restart to respond to its clients requests again.

The problem is just that I fear these LMS performance issues (or any other current SB problems) are not very likely to be fixed.
