    App Gallery Apps

    Good evening,

I'm looking to develop an app for the App Gallery at mysqueezebox dot com (I'd post a link but the forum won't allow me to do so...?)

I've been able to find information about developing plug-ins, but I can't seem to find docs for developing this type of app; is it just a new name for the old plug-in model, or something new?

    Any pointers appreciated, thanks!

The forum probably restricts you so you can't post links in your first posts to avoid spam.

As a third party developer you can not get anything to show up at mysqueezebox.com, the apps shown at mysqueezebox.com is all provided by Logitech.
The situation might be different if you are working for a company and can get an agreement with Logitech about distributing your app through mysqueezebox.com, but so far I think all apps shown on mysqueezebox.com have been developed by Logitech themselves, possibly with some support from other companies.

As a third party developer, the options you have without having to get a commercial agreement with Logitech are:
    - Plugins which runs on LMS server on a computer and is installed through LMS Settings/Plugins tab in the LMS web interface. Plugins only works for users that runs their own LMS installation on a computer or NAS.
    - Applets which runs on Touch, Radio or Controller and is installed through "Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer" or "App Gallery/3rd Party Apps" directly in the menu on your Touch, Radio or Controller. Applets do not work on older players (Classic, Boom, Transporter, Receiver)

I think both plugins and applets can be made to show up directly in the "My Apps" menu on the Squeezebox display, Triode's Spotify and YouTube plugins are examples that does this.

There is no way you as a third party developer can get something to show up directly in "App Gallery" menu, you can only get applets to appear in "App Gallery/3rd Party Apps" and that only works on the newer players (Touch, Radio and Controller).

If you let us know a little bit more about exactly what kind of app you want to make someone here can help you regarding if it's suitable to make as a plugin or applet.
