Do you have only one router btw ?
thanks everyone for your help. It works now. However, still don't know what was wrong in my configuration.
What I did is to download Connectify (this is a sw that will act as wi-fi hotspot) and connect both my Squeezebox Touch and my iPhone to this network.
Doing so I can now connect to my library and I can also remote control everything just fine from my iPhone (triode plugin included).

    thanks

Good ! It may remain a mystery the phone may have been on 3G instead of local wifi who knows.

    That's a thing with squeezeboxes.

Pro , it re uses your existing network infrastructure and and existing pc/NAS for server and your pad or phone for controller . Jolly good I just add players and be happy .

con , it re uses your existing network infrastructure and and existing pc/NAS for server and your pad or phone for controller . It works exactly as good as that other stuff ?

So before I owned squeezeboxes I did not even know what the network router or a switch was and they where mystery boxes to me,
So it was some catching up but not to overwhelming .
I had initially made some very trivial setup errors ,but I never cared for how this stuff worked before so that's a gotcha .
just some rudimentary knowledge get you very far .

The real time sink is ripping a lifetime worth of CD's it becomes like a stamp collection you finesse tags and whatnots with it.
