    Logitech Media Server 7.8 ?

Does anyone know what the main changes are between LMS 7.7 and 7.8 ?

ie, what's the reason for a new minor version number, as opposed to merely a higher 'patch' number of 7.7?

    Thanks

    Many thanks.

Fwiw, I had tried searching for both "LMS 7.8" and just "7.8" before I posted, but got

"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

    each time.

LMS and pre-release of Lion 10.7.5

I'm currently testing a beta of Lion 10.7.5 and have been generating a Perl 5.12 error with 7.7 of LMS. I can make this error go away by installing 7.8, but it doesn't survive a reboot or restart. 7.8 needs to be installed each time.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, any workarounds other than reinstalling the beta of 7.8?

    Thanks!

What error? What does "perl -v" say?

Crash report for Perl 5.12 problem with Lion 10.7.5

Here's the crash report generated by the OS. It points back to the Prefs Pane for LMS.

Did they update perl in 10.7.5? What does "perl -v" give (run in a
    terminal window)?

    Running perl -v returns:

    This is perl 5, version 12, subversion 3 (v5.12.3) built for darwin-thread-multi-2level
(with 2 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

I'm not aware that anything has changed with Perl in this latest release. The problem has been reported to Apple as a bug, but I was trying to see if anyone else was experiencing the problem.

Seems to be identical with the latest stable Lion release I have. From
reading the stacktrace I guess it's rather the scanner crashing on some
file than a general incompatibility. Did you ever check your
    server.log/scanner.log files?

No, I haven't. While you could certainly be right, there are two things that would lead me to believe that's not the problem. First, the issue only started with 10.7.5. Second, running the 7.8 beta stops the problem until the next reboot. To be clear, if I didn't apply the patch, the crash would occur over and over every few hours.

As I said, it's been reported to Apple along with a full sysdiagnose to see what may be causing this. I believe 10.7.5 will be for people who choose not to upgrade to Mountain Lion, and the machines I have with Mountain Lion installed along with LMS are not displaying this incompatibility.
