Scanning video subfolders, rescan scheduling

Hi,

I just purchased a couple Logitech Revue devices and loaded the Logitech Media Server software onto my media server (a Windows XP machine.)

The server runs DVR software that uses it's own conventions for storage, including a folder/subfolder system for organizing videos (for example "TV Shows/Gilligan's Island")

Everything is up and running but I'm finding....

1) With MUSIC I just set the watched folder to the top level directory ("My Music") and when the system scans it looks into the subfolder structure with no problem, however with VIDEO if I just tell it to look at "TV Shows" it doesn't seem to scan into the subfolder structure, all it catches are playable formats in the main directory.

2) I can't find a way to schedule rescans. It scans when I add a folder or when I click "rescan" in the Advanced settings, but it never seems to scan on it's own. All media is put on the server by other programs (or manually) so the media server itself is never involved in actively putting new media there. Is there some setting I'm missing that would tell it to "rescan everything every day at 2am" or something like that, or even auto-detect when new files are added and rescan then? If not, perhaps there's a command line parameter list I can use to build a batch file to do this via Task Scheduler? I don't care about resources, the current rescan process does not seem to use enough cycles to interfere with anything else that's going on on the machine.

Any clues, anyone?

OK, so I found the help topic on using command line switches with either TCP/IP or telnet. I guess that works, seems weird to have to go through that to get it to do an automated rescan at a particular time but I can live with it. Want to automated it in a batch file, telnet is not the easiest thing to do that with but I've downloaded TST10 and am working on that now....

If anyone has an easier way let me know!

Meanwhile, how about the subdirectory thing? Do I really need to deal with specifying the exact path every time a subdirectory is created in my Video folder or is there SOME way I can tell it to just scan everything? No switches I can find in the help file...
