    SqueezeSlave won't run

    Hi,

I have been trying to get SqueezeSlave (SS) to run on a small machine running Win XP Pro SP3. It crashes with a Windows system error (notify Microsft etc) window immediately on startup.

    I have tried C:\>Squeezeslave -h and C:\>squeezeslave 192.168.0.11 both crash.

I am using the latest version of SL and have had the same version running on another machine.

The small machine is a fanless box running at 500MHz - 512MB memory. SqueezePlay runs OK on it, except for running out of CPU time occasionally. I don't need the UI, so SqueezeSlave makes more sense if I can get it to run.

    Any ideas?

What is the output from these two commands?

    squeezeslave.exe -V

    squeezeslave.exe -L

What version of LMS are you running and where?

What is the actual error windows error message?

I don't get to see the output from either command - SS crashes before producing output.

    The actual error meesage is:
squeezeslave.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I am running the latest version of LMS.

    Cheers,

Check the windows event log to see if there is more details in its report.

The Windows error log shows Event ID: 1000 faulting address 0x00001592

Does that tell you anything useful?

The current stable release is 1.2-311.

If that's failing try the previous release 1.1-253 and if that still fails try 1.0-210.

These should all work with LMS 7.8 and can be downloaded from here.

No luck I'm afraid. Both these previous versions also crash on startup.

I am running LMS 7.7.2 but I don't think it matters as SqueezeSlave is not getting that far.

It has to be something more basic wrong on this little PC.
