    Squeezebox Touch Wireless Connection Problems

I have decided to sell my SB Touch and was testing it before selling it on.

Without the SB Server installed on any of my machines - should I not be able to connect wirelessly to my network and play internet radio etc?

MY SB Touch recognises my network but when I try and enter the WEP key it doesnt recognise the code. I know this code works, I have done a router upgrade/reset, a factory reset of the SB on many occasions, opened ports on the router for my SB Touch and also tried with MAC filtering On and Off. I cant change from a WEP key as I have something else on the network that MUST use WEP. If I hard-wire using an ethernet cable it works fine. Does anyone have any ideas as I wouldnt like to sell on a faulty piece of equipment?

    Thanks in advance,

    Richard

Correct, no local server needed to play internet radio. But it does need a www.MySqueezeBox.com account so that it can connect to that server online.

Tried with router encryption temporarily turned off? Sure it is trying to connect to your network? WiFi SSID name is unique to your router?

If you do sell it make sure you log into your MySB.com account and delete that player or else the next owner cannot use MySB.com.

I checked mysqueezebox.com and my account is still there and active - I wouldnt think that was an issue though because it cant connect to be able to detect it? The router SSID is unique and the signal strength is excellent, I cant think what else to do because when you turn the SB on the options are limited, the Diagnostics wont run because its not connected etc

I have chenged the WEP passkey in the past and this hasnt worked either - I will turn off the encryption but surely it should work without having to do this?

Is there anything I can do when hard-wired to guarantee a wireless connection?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Needing a MySB.com account was in reference to your question of playing internet radio absent a local LMS server. Nothing to do with connecting the player to your network.

Yes, it should work with WEP. I'm suggesting a temporary connection with no encryption to verify it is indeed WEP which is causing the connection issue.

What kind of wep code ? Some require you to use some hex <> ASCII conversion in some cases .

    http://www.einhorn-net.de/jstools/wepkey.html

Besides do not hide SSID or mac filter it do not improve security and can be potentially buggy.
(hide ssid ,does not *really* hide it , it is visible in other ways to ) .

Also wep is very unsecured , some say you might aswell turn it of completely .

And also don't use b/g mode b mode makes the whole wifi slower and is useless .
Things that need b mode needs to be replaced or connected via some adapter instead.

I have turned off the WEP encryption on my router and the SB Touch connects fine wirelessly. However, when I turn the encryption back on the SB still wont connect.

Does anyone have any ideas? see above - I think Ive tried everything short of changing from a WEP key which I stated I cant change :-(

The hex <> ASCII conversion is not for the router but for the Touch, the idea was to try that on the Touch.

I think it asks you for the 10 digit key on the touch? the key is 9d477711d - so should I try putting that in to convert to ASCII and typing in the ASCII code generated?

You may want to try 9D477711D, also. I once had a problem connecting one device that only worked with WEP set in caps even though all my other devices accept lower case.
