Hi folks, just bought myself a Radio, to add to my Boom and Receiver system (which worked fine before) only to now see a couple of problems. Firstly the radio doesn't hold onto the wi-fi signal, although I think this may be a seperate problem? Also I'm now seeing mysqueezebox issues - I'm getting the bad repository message on my plugins page, and radio on the Boom seems not to work when I'm connected through SBS, although it does through mysqueezebox connection.
Rebooting my router seems to get the Radio reconnected, but not for more than a day or so. Restarting SBS doesn't seem to solve the bad repository issue. I've checked IP addresses and there's no conflicts. I'm on a good wi-fi channel, no overlaps with neighbours, and no-one visible has a similar SSID. I've tried opening a port for the radio as per a different thread with no joy.
Your help appreciated.
Thanks,
paul x

Hi all, I have persevered with this but with no luck, it is still quite frustrating!
The usual situation on any given day is that the Boom and Receiver are connected but the Radio is not. A server reboot will get the radio connected but then it's anything from a few seconds to a few hours before it disconnects (normally about 20 minutes). Last.fm won't scrobble any more at all. The plugins error message is still there.
Any help appreciated, thanks.

My Radio's doesn't have as good WiFi signal as the other WiFi devices in my home, even if they are at the same distance from the router, so it might be that it's not close enough to the WiFi router or that there are some disturbance from microwaves or cordless phones that's causing network issues. If it's caused by disturbances from external equipment or neighbor wifi network it might help to try to change which channel the WiFi router is configured to use, this improved the connection in my own setup previously when the Radio disconnected.
Also, the alarm handling in the Radio do have issues with bad network connection, it can work great when playing music as normal but when using the alarm a very short network problem will switch the alarm to the default alarm. I've also seen issues where my Radio haven't been able to reconnect to the network after it has lost the connection, but rebooting the Radio always result in that it successfully reconnects and work again.
If you get bad repository messages in the Plugins page is sounds like there is some problem with the internet connection on the computer/NAS where you run SBS/LMS.
If you are running SBS/LMS on a desktop or laptop, could you try to open a web browser and goto the repository url it complains about, I'm suspect it complains about the mysqueezebox.com repository urls which would be one of:
http://mysqueezebox.com/public/plugins/logitech.xml
http://mysqueezebox.com/public/plugins/repository.xml
http://mysqueezebox.com/public/plugins/other.xml
If it works from a web browser but not through SBS/LMS Settings/Plugins tab, it's an indication that the issue might be caused by a firewall software installed on the computer which allows the web browser but not the SBS process to access internet.
Do you have some antivirus or firewall software installed on the computer that runs SBS that could cause issues ?
Which version of SBS are you using now ? (you will find it in SBS Settings/Information)
Which version did you use previously before you got the Radio when everything worked correctly ?
Did you upgrade any antivirus, firewall or SBS/LMS software at the same time when it stopped working ?
Which operating system and version are you using on the computer where you run SBS/LMS ?Erland Isaksson (My homepage)

Paul
You have discovered what many have us have known for some while, radio wifi is about as stable as an MFI wardrobe!! See my thread here for more support and possible solutions, I solved this with a second hub as an access point
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...ems-MEGATHREAD!2 Booms, 1 radio, a touch and an SB3...think that's enough?

Hi Erland, thanks for your help with this. I will try moving my Radio from it's current location in the garage into the house to see if less walls between it and my router help it's connection issues. I will report back! Also i don't have any obvious channel overlaps with neighbours, but perhaps I will switch to another channel anyway just to see if it helps.
Do you know what I looked at my plugin tab tonight and the repository error message isn't there, but if it arrives again I will copy the address into my browser.
I'm on LMS 7.7.2. Actually when I just opened it I have this error message "You don't have privileges to install..[snip]..the LMS background service..[snip]...etc" - I had that before and I set it to 'run as administrator' but hadn't noticed it had come back (I normally run from the web tab) - could this be the root of some of my problems, or is it more likely caused by whatever else is causing the issues? I'll try setting it to run as admin as soon as I'm done with this post.
I run Windows 7 SP1 with MSE firewall. I don't recall the problems starting at any particular time with any recent upgrades although it is possible (I used to run XP until six months or so ago). My router is the standard BT Infinity one.
I'll tinker with a few more bits see if I can solve the problem. By the way, very occasionally my Receiver has a yellow light on and the Boom has connection problems, and when I take a look lo and behold the Radio is connected! It's almost like LMS (or my router?) will only let me run one or two of the devices at once...
Thanks again,
Paul

If you suspect the network it might be a good idea to place them all in the same room temporary and connect them with a network cable and see if they work as expected then. If it doesn't work when you connect the devices with cable it's probably not caused by WiFi issues, but if it works with cable but not with wireless it's likely caused by bad WiFi reception or some interference from the environment.
