Is the Synology DS212+ fast enough for Bandwith limitation (Transcoding)?

My Logitech Server runs on a Synology DS212+.
Normaly it works fine without problems. Some Days ago I got an Android Player and installed the SqueezePlayer app.
For beeing able to stream my files (FLAC) via internet i tried to set an Bandwith limitation (with Lame) to my device, to transcode them "Live".
Even with LAME Quality of 9 the CPU of my DS212+ is on 100% CPU usage and the Player stops, because of buffering.

Is it really possible, that the DS212+ with its 2Ghz CPU is not fast enough for Bandwith limitation??

What kind of cpu it is not always the gHz ?

It is the architecture afaik lame needs a cpu with a good fpu (floating point unit) .

So x86 cpu are the ones i know to work .

But for example my old single core via C7 at 1,2gHz barely made it at 1,2gHz it had an fpu unit but not a good one so cpu was at 90% but it worked

The DS212+ has no hardware floating point support. That's why it is having a hard time transcoding.

It has got a 2.0GHZ ARM processor without an FPU so you may need to use the Shine encoder which does MP3 encoding (not as good as lame) with fixed point arith.

You need to get / build a shineenc for your system (source http://svn.slimdevices.com/slim/7.7/...r/shine-fixed/ ) and then add in the custom-convert.conf file http://svn.slimdevices.com/slim/7.7/...=32884&view=co which is set up for shineenc
