I would check what screen-saver you selected for playing , you want "now playing" instead of the clock , rummage around in the Touch settings and you find it (screen I think ) .
Clock can be useful for pause or off .

"now playing" can be toggled between different sizes of cover art and visualizers , on the screen or via the ir remote
