Close to giving up - SBS 7.7.2-1 and Fedora 16 :-(

I realise that I may get shot down in flames for this, but I'm getting to the point where I no longer care.

A couple of years ago I installed SBS (or whatever it was called back then) under Mint (Ubuntu) with absolutely no problems. Unfortunately, this gave me a false sense of security.

I have now spent several fruitless days trying to get the latest version working under Fedora 16, to no avail.

I first tried installing from rpm, but got lots of errors - most of which I resolved by manually adding symbol links, but still leaving some issues unresolved (mainly relating to incorrect versions of Perl modules).

Next, following a suggestion on the Wiki (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeCenterRPM), I uninstalled and re-installed via yum. Once again, this left me with errors.

Finally, as a last resort, I unpacked the tgz distribution and tried to run this - with much the same result as before.

I have tried requesting help via this forum, but received no responses, apart from myself, which was rather depressing.

I was really hoping for so much better from this product, which had given me a great deal of pleasure in the past (and clearly does to many other contented users). However, for me, it may be that I'll just have to either give up, or wait until the product gets updated to a version that works (for me, obviously).

Just in case anybody comes across this final posting, my current error refers to the version of CGI::Cookie:

The following CPAN modules were found but cannot work with Logitech Media Server:
CGI::Cookie (loaded <not found>, need 1.27)

To fix this problem you have several options:
1. Install the latest version of the module(s) using CPAN: sudo cpan Some::Module
2. Update the module's package using apt-get, yum, etc.
3. Run the .tar.gz version of Logitech Media Server which includes all required CPAN modules.

I have found the CGI::Cookie.pm module underneath the untarred distro, and it seems to be version 1.27, so I don't see why this error is occurring. However, I am neither an expert on SBS nor on Perl - although I have been developing software for over 35 years.

I'm a Windows person, but was thinking you might try the "Linux / Unix" forum on this board for help. I find stuff like;

over there. It's just a hunch that you might find some Fedora help in the Linux / Unix section, but us Windows whipper snappers don't know much. ;-)

Sounds like a good idea - also makes me think that I might not be shouting into a void :-)
