I thought you had the routers cascaded in such way that the signals is transmitted via wifi somewhere in your home before going to the ISP , so I merely suggested connecting direct to the router that connects to Internet :-/

But it rules out the wifi card in the boom

I have multitude of switches at home but there is an unbroken hardline from my boom to the Internet connection.

ah OK now I see why you asked what you asked. Anyway, after attempt #5 and several hours w. my headset in my ears until the 'battery drained' signal was beeping in my ear, I finally got through to a bright, fast, competent and empowered supporter with a distinct but good-to-understand Indian accent, who studied what we've been writing in this thread (LOL), and approved the RMA. My old SBB is on its way via UPS; accdg. to the supporter a new one should be w. me in 7-10 days biz days.

    I'll report back.

Yes sometimes it is so simple that the darn thing is broken .

I while ago I had mysterius conection issues in my Ethernet from the server to squeezeboxes . It simply turned out to be a broken NIC on the mobo :~ .

I have learned in my life as a service engineer that the actual faults are often very simple , but the symptoms are not .
