Thread: OtherPLayers?

    OtherPLayers?

I used to use a great plugin called OtherPlayers that allowed you to control all the players connected to the server from any one player. Since I upgrade the server to v.7.2.2 the OtherPlayers plug in no longer seems available.

Is there any built in functionality or other plug-in that achieves similar results, i.e., allowing you to use one player to turn on/off other players, sync them, etc.?

Is there any way to install OtherPlayers v. 0.5.2 (the only one i can find: http://www.thespicers.net/squeezebox.../other-players) on the current version of LMS? When I try, I get the following error message. If anyone can help me make sense of this I would be much obliged. I copied the files from the OtherPLayers.zip file to the Plugins directory on my ReadyNAS.

Cant help on the specifics, only inform that it should work fine. I've been using it on every version up to 7.7.3.

The built in functionality that I use is:

On a Squeezeplay base deviced (e.g. Radio, Touch, Controller) there is a menu option under 'Settings' entitled 'Choose Player' that allows you to control any player you want from the device. I have put it onto my home menu for ease of access. So I can control my Squeezebox Classic (ip3k) from my Controller or Radio, but not vice versa.

I also use the 'Synchronize' feature to have the same music coming out of more than one player. This can be accessed from the settings menu from all of my devices.

Thanks so much. Is there any trick to installing it? I could not get the repository to work, so I downloaded the .zip file from the spicer web site and then copied the files inside [a folder called OtherPlayers with a .svn folder, install.xml, Plugin.pm, and strings.txt files] into the folder c:\.squeezeboxserver\PlugIns.] I have a ReadyNAS running 7.7.2.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

    ...c:\.squeezeboxserver\PlugIns.] I have a ReadyNAS running 7.7.2. ??

IS LMS running on the ready NAS then the pluging must be on the ready NAS C: is not on the NAS ??

Otherplayers does not have a repo so manua install it is (like in the old days of slimdevices )

On my ClearOS linux the location is /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins or /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins (that links to the other dir so it's the same place )
in here you simply place the OtherPlayers folder with its content and restart LMS .

Have a look on your NAS it may be a slightly different directory but a guess is to look under /usr/share or /var/lib folder .

Do not use /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins it is for plugins installed via repo .

If you are installing on the NAS make sure that permissions are such that LMS can read the files .

Cant remember wether changes are required, but you may want to check the install.xml-file for max/min-version and change accordingly if its not good as is.
