How to break total dependence on lMS when (my) remote server is down?

    Hi All,

I'm sorry if this question has been answered before but a search on the forums did not produce any help.

When I first purchased the SB I didn't install/connect to LMS or mySB - the radio worked fine w/o those

    services.

I then connected to mySB.com, and also installed LMS on a remote server.

    Everything usually runs fine.

However, when my server crashes, hence LMS is not available, I cannot access anything with my SB radio.

I cannot go to 'Extras' and select an alternative (i.e. mySB.com).

I've been thru all the radio menu options and nothing provides any way of breaking the total dependence on

    LMS.

I'm running the latest version of radio firmware and LMS software.

If someone could at least point me to a forum post that answers this question I would be very grateful.

    Thanks, GA

hmmmm, all very odd. First, your radio can't work without either a local LMS or mysb.com. So that must be your imagination that it worked without either. When your local server running LMS is down, you should be able to select mysb.com. This is not done through the extra's menu. I've moved "switch to mysqueezebox.com" to my radio's home menu so I can't recall where it started. But probably under SETTINGS, then maybe ADVANCED.

edit: bottom line, you should be able to switch to entirely mysqueezebox.com and not have a local LMS at all. Not sure why you're not seeing that option.

The default location for the menu item to switch to mysqueezebox.com is obscure, to say the least:

    Settings > Advanced > Networking > Switch to mysqueezebox.com

Now you see why garym moved it to the home menu!

Switch to mysqueezebox.com is there but doesn't work

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

While that menu option exists, when I drill down and select it the only thing that happens is the whole screen briefly nudges slightly to the right. It does not switch to msb or have any effect. I still cannot access any stations.

And, regarding my using the SB before installing/connecting to any server/services... that is exactly what I did for at least a week after purchasing the radio. Only after a while did I bother to subscribe/join to MSB, and install LMS.

Perhaps I need to do a complete reset?

    Thanks, GA

Rebooting everything, especially your router, is a good first step. If that doesn't help then I'd say you should double-check your network settings, as well as your mysqueezebox.com credentials.

if all the above doesn't work, then a factory reset would be my next step. How did you acquire this RADIO? Was it used by any chance (or "new in box" from ebay, etc.). The reason I ask, is that, as I mentioned earlier, the RADIO had to have been connected to mysqueezebox.com initially or it would not have worked for you before you installed your own LMS. I'm thinking that it might have worked because it was linked to some other person (original owner's) mysb.com account. And if so, this could be the root of the problem you have with connecting it to YOUR mysb.com account.

did a complete reset of the cablemodem, router, and SB (in that order with everything powered off initially). Still the same.

Logged into MSB - no problem with account. MSB 'Remote Control' does not see my radio, but not sure if that has worked or not in the past as I use LMS for this purpose.

Before doing a radio reset I'll stop by my office to get LMS running again and see what happens.

    Thank You, GA
