    LMS on Synology Diskstation DS712

Just wondering if anyone has tried installing LMS (Specifically v. 7.7.2) on a Synology diskstation NAS by using the Linux version of LMS. I am aware of the Netgear ReadyNAS versions however, I've always found that my old ReadyNAS just did not have enough horsepower to run LMS properly. I'm moving to the Synology and their site only has v 7.7.1.

Just wondering. Not being a Linux master has made these things a bit mysterious. Thanks a lot for any thoughts.

    Synology DiskStation CPU

I most sincerely apologize for not replying sooner! Completely my tardiness! And thank you for your reply. To answer your question, the DS712 has a D525 Atom Processor, in other words, an x86.

Since I posted my original question Synology released the updated version of LMS, 7.7.2. Nevertheless, I can see that being able to directly install another version could be useful. I note that the DiskStation uses port 9002 instead of the usual 9000. This may be just one of several changes Synology makes to get the software to run on the DiskStations.

    Hi,

I'm sorry. I can give you hints only for boxes with arm-cpus, because i own these devices. Flipflip stopped SSODS development, so his implementation is even older than the one synology provides. I was able to update SSODS for both arm-versions (can be found in the SSODS4 thread), but because of the lack of a x86 box, i can't test any x86 upgrade.

I own a DS412+ which has a core duo 2.13 GHz CPU. Should this be sufficient to run LMS?
