I think it would be easier for the gurus to answer if you provided the LMS version number. But why do you switch back and forth? That shouldn't be necessary when you have LMS running locally.

Same problem here with Favourites (re internet radio) - 2 stations fail. All I am doing is trying to store favourite stations - Roberts Radio does it FAR better.

This is a seriously buggy bit of software and is, frankly, unfit for purpose.

A truly nasty bit of software.

Edit: to say the software is nasty not the product (hardware is good, very good).

"Failed to parse" messages are usually caused by server not receiving an complete XML message - often the last few bytes are missing. Common causes are a slow network connection (i.e. message timed out) or security s/w / devices "holding " onto to last packet of a message for too long.

It remains a nasty product; the user interface is appalling.

However I have managed to add some favourite stations to the list - but now need to sort it!

The "fail to parse" comes up if you attempt to select an internet radio provider (yet it will play the station if selected via that provider just not in favourites!). I deleted the entry using a provider and instead searched for the stations using "Internet radio" as the "provider". Strangely, the BBC stations are OK - also selected via an app.

It looks as though I'll have to delete everything, copy all my Roberts Stream 83I favourites on paper and then add them to LST in some useful order.

As I said, an appalling bit of software.

Can you provide the URL that causes the problem - I'd be interested to see if it is a general issue. If so I'll open a bug report.

It took me a long time, but I finally realized that "failed to parse" simply means that for some reason the address of the station is no good at the time you make the request. When I get it for a podcast for instance, it can mean that the address has changed, that the server is down, etc. For instance today I got that message for one of my favorite podcasts. I got the same message yesterday. I went to the site on my computer and discovered that there were no programs in the podcast list.

If it is a station that you get through Tune In, sometimes the station changes its URL and Tune In has not picked that up. You can go to the station's website and get the direct URL and put it in your favorites and/or you can notify Tune In of the change. There is a special form at the Tune In site for that. They usually fix it right away unless for some reason the station will not permit them to rebroadcast its shows.

Also, If you are adding a bunch of favorites for which you have the URLs and you want them to be in a certain order, the easiest way to do it is on mysqueezebox.com. You can just type them in and reorder them any way you like.

Which UI? There are at least 5 or 6 (web interface, touchscreen/infrared remote, Logitech smartphone app, iPeng, SqueezePad,....)

Not GUI, just UI. IOW the user experience is not simple, intuitive or helpful especially on the LST (LMS & MySB are a bit better I must admit).

The software is typical open source: developed by a bunch of geeks with little or no top down design and no thought for useability. as a couple of forum members said, if you're not a programmer buy a SONOS. Luckily, I was once a programmer, system designer and IT developer so know my way around a bit. I'd still like a fully working, perfect, user interface on the unit per my Roberts Stream 83i, though.

Logitech have missed out here and that's a shame because the sonics, even in basic configuration using mp3s, are excellent.
