    WiFi fails to connect with ethernet cable plugged in

    I have been having trouble with wifi connection dropping out and the boom rebuffering. Looks like many others have as well. But I thought I would swap wifi for ethernet to see if it improved things.
    No. it made things worse. Bare in mind that wifi had been connecting to router fine before.
    Once ethernet plugged in I switched off and on the boom and went through the connect to ethernet pages. When it got to the obtaining ip screen it just counted down from 30 to 0 and then said it was unable to connect with DHCP server.
    So I scrathed my head - still scratching actually as I cannot get ethernet to work at all :-(
    So I switched back to trying to connect to Wifi. Just in case I forced the wifi channel to 13.
    Well, I got exactly the same as trying ethernet.
    It went through the process of connecting wifi to router OK, but when it got to obtaining ip it just counted down from 30 to 0 and then said it could not find DHCP Server.
    So next the ONLY thing I did was remove the ethernet cable from the back of the boom. Then went through the same process again for wifi and it connected fine.

    Any ideas why I can't connect to wifi with ethernet cable plugged in?

    Any ideas why I cant connect with ethernet?

    Apologies if I have not given much config detail but I have no idea what is the correct data to give other than boom says:
    LMS 7.7.2-r33893 (on my Netgear NAS)
    Boom firmware 57
    Router is an ASUS RT-N56U

    Check that the Ethernet bridge feature is disabled.
    The wired and wireless network interfaces on the Squeezebox share the same MAC address, and your router could be confused seeing two different routes going to the same MAC if it's enabled.

    I really struggle to understand all the terms on the pages on my router setup screens, but there is a page called Wirelss - Bridge where a setting can be made for AP only, WDS only or Hybrid. It has this for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both are set to AP only and the help note on the page says to leave it as AP only to disable bridge. Still not able to connect by wifi with cable connected :-(

    There is another page of the router settings that allows me to change its mode of operation from IP Sharing to either Router or Access Point. It has always been configured as IP sharing even though I have it plugged in to a Zoom 5751 modem. All wireless laptops, networked printer and networked tvs have worked fine.
    For the IP Sharing configuration it provides the following note
    'In the Brodaband share mode, RT-N56U connects to the Internet via PPPoE,Automatic IP, PPTP, L2TP, or Static IP.It provides you with wireless radio signal. The NAT, firewall, and broadband sharing services for LAN clients are enabled. It also supports UPnP and Dynamic DNS for SOHO or home user.'

    For Router config it provides the following note
    'In the router mode, use an Ethernet cable to connect RT-N56U with your computer and create a wireless network connection, then select the settings for your wireless network connection. RT-N56Uextends your wireless network coverage and allows you to configure the static routing protocol. It disables NAT (Network Address Translation) to allow communication and sharing services among LAN and WAN clients. Note: You need to specify the routing rules in the host router.'

    Having read this I tried changing config to Router, but after the router rebooted I didn't have a connection to anything and my PC could not see the internet, so I switched it back to IP Sharing.

    I apologies if this is an unrelated issue to my squeezebox problem.

    The setting I'm talking about is not at the router side, but in the Boom setup menus (the ones you access by holding the left arrow pressed on the remote).
    I don't remember where it is exactly. Under "Current Settings", maybe?

    However, as far as I know, it will only appear when you're connected wirelessly, and it's off by default
    It's probably not related, but worth a check, though.

    If it's disabled, I'd try a factory reset and a xilinx reset.
